History

Herman bought the 30 acre parcel from Ida Hemmi in the early 1904’s . He used the property for his cattle to graze on during the dry months of the year. In 1918 the woods were logged, this was the year Herman was born . His father logged the the adjacent property to the park. Little has changed over the past 50 years.

We worked with Herman and Diane Miller along with the State 4-H program for over a year to make the transfer a reality. In late 1993 the Whatcom County 4-H Horse program was deeded the transfer to manage the property. Many of the accomplishments have been achieved with the support form our community businesses and interested parents and members.
